Startup Spotlight: Virtually

Fresh out of Y Combinator, Virtually is here to power the back office future of online schools and classes. Think of Virtually as the Shopify of the online education industry. Backed by Tiger Global Management, the Virtually team is ready to bring their suite of tools to more educational creators and subject matter experts.

To run an online education program takes massive amounts of time preparing the course and curriculum and then setting up a bunch of different tools to help make the experience possible. Admissions, payment, live conferencing, keeping track of students, and messaging. Like Shopify simplified the e-commerce experience, Virtually wants to do the same thing for educators and empower them to create educational experiences without the back-office headache.

Virtually provides educational creators with all of the tools necessary for them to not have to worry about juggling dozens of tools to run their classes. Student Management, Admissions, Messaging, Payment Processing and Live Video Conferencing are amongst the suite of tools Virtually offers.

We are bullish on the “In-a-Box-Economy” (see our post on it from a few months ago) and Virtually has built a tremendous suite of tools to help power the “Online School-in-a-Box” which while demand was brought on due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe online learning will remain in demand. Being online democratizes access to these educational experiences and subject matter experts can offer practical courses as a new and unique educational opportunity. It could also help power a future talent source for companies as courses offered by them and their team could help them identify top prospects for future roles. Either way, we are excited to see what Founder, Ish Baid, and his team have in store for us.
